Trrrinng Trrrrinng!!!! (Mobile rings at 3am in the morning…)
Me: Hi Amit, what happened? Calling so late?
Amit: I saw that you are still online on Facebook, so I am curious to know that what are you still doing till now?... hmmmmm, what’s the matter? Chatting to girlfriend haan?
Me: no yaar, I am not so lucky, I was going to prepare an assignment of writing a blog for one of my subject.
Amit:
Sooo late?
Me:
the deadline for the same is 7 am in the morning, and you know naa that I like to finish the work only 11th hour. Actually I am not getting an idea how to start the assignment.
Amit:
what’s the assignment is all about?
Me:
It’s about explaining the System Architecture in computer application to someone.
Amit: Even I don’t know that, what’s it all about?
Me: System architecture is the conceptual model that defines the structure, behaviour, and more outlooks of a system.
Amit: Be more precise in term of IT, I am not getting it.
Me: Actually it consists of different types of integrated system, like single tier, two tier, three tier and multi-tier.
Amit: It seems to be an interesting area, bhai please explain naa.
Me: Ok, first tier is the simplest configuration and is suitable for environments when simplicity and cost, instead of scalability and fault-tolerance, are the business drivers. A single machine runs an instance of the server component. eg: Laptop, desktop etc.
Amit: Good yaar, understood and what about the other tiers of application?
Me: Two tiers have two layers of application, client acts as frontend and Server acts as backend. It connects client machine to server using TCP/IP protocols. The client layer is called the GUI/ interface / presentation layer and the server layer is known as database layer where we store/retrieve our data. Basically this architecture is followed in client/server applications where database and application resides in the same machine or database may in other machine connected through network. It connects client machine to server using TCP/IP protocols.
In three tiers we have three layers presentation layer, business layer and database layer. Here the application is divide in which the business logic is kept centrally and presentation logic is kept locally which reduces the data transfer over the network. In this type of architecture client make a request to server through presentation layer to get some data the query is evaluated in business layer and the data is retrieved from the database layer.
Amit: Is three tier same as multi-tier architecture?
Me: yes, the most widespread use of multi-tier architecture is the three-tier architecture. Yahoo, Gmail, or Web Applications are the example of the same has number of users or customers or clients.
Amit: Great yaar, you know many things, and you really explained me very well.
Me: Thanks and apart from the above gyaan, integrated system has few advantages like no duplication and inconsistency of data, easier to manage, secured, faster etc which are based on the relational database model.

Me: Thanks for your call; my assignment is all about the conversation we had. I have got the idea what I need to write.
